Ahh Pete you can't of been THAT drunk the other night if you remember the crews union conversation.

It was a feeling during the Chew event that the helms of the various classes spend enough time moaning about their crews and thinking that the only thing they are good for is lifting the boat to put the undercover back on. A Crew's Union has therefore sprung into existance like a well hoisted kite!

So if you feel the need to moan about the unfit old guy who sits at the back whilst us crews leap about making them look like superstars this is the place.

Does your helm feel the need to tell you how to do your job every time you tack whilst you tactfully keep slient when righting a capsize that he caused by screwing up a gybe for the nth time? Let us know (we'll get them later).

Well its time to air your views! Also we might be able to offer some advice on all matters crew (such as drinking/bar volleyball technique/table football and space hopper racing)

Well he was evidently drunk enough to wet himself, there's no other explanation for the damp phone!

Shame the wind didn't provide us with the opportunity for that helms Vs crews race, i reckon we had it in the bag. Maybe next time just to see the elegance of them on the wire.

Cheers guys, nice to start the banter as you mean to go on! I'll be keeping a close eye on you useless big footed crews posting your drivell in here!!!

A nice new phone will be in my possession tomorrow. Maybe the 36 hours with no sleep and a couple of 6X beers really was a volatile combination afterall. Then to top it off I didn't get to bed till 5am this morning. Oh how your hearts must be bleeding for me. The violins are starting up as I type...!

Think I will join the crews union. Do we get special T shirts? The beer supply should be sponsored by the helms to show gratitude for all our hard work. Plus - I love your big feet Tim - Peter just wishes his was as big.

Excellent idea - does this mean that while Roger is languishing in Riyadh (again) I can finally get my own back.......!
Mmmmm - where should I start......

No - on second thoughts (since I also have to live with my helm)maybe I should keep quiet for once.

By the way Tim - my helm lifts the boat to get the undercover on. I think you've got things seriously wrong there....

I'm not sure about these characters who play for both sides (so to speak). Maybe we should form some kind of management structure to take these important decisions. I bet our AGMs would be a hell of a lot more fun than the normal ones!

Annie, sounds like you should go into t-shirt (or maybe rash vest) production, maybe not white though.

I have been told that the crews like lifting boats to show off their finely toned bodys, maybe its a man-thing rather than a crew-thing?

Tim

PS I did once venture to the back of the boat but to be honest it wasn't exactly my thing! Maybe its my youth that does appreciate skills required.

Pete got a very black mark once for trying to get me to turn the ISO over - me at the back and him at the front. Then telling me how silly I was for not being able to lift it higher than 5 inches - let alone turn the dam thing upside down. It was a good thing the neighbour came and told him off. I think maybe because I didn't have that toned body meant I wasn't able to do it.

I may know a graphics designer - would this help?

Annie

best crew comment I heard was from the owner of a half-tonner from the foredeck during a sail change on a windy day, to the hotshoe dinghy racing helmsman who was showing impatience when the genoa jammed in its track...."I KNOW I am doing MY best - are YOU sure YOU are doing YOUR best?"
having been briefly on a trapeze once at Garda with Ian K-G driving, iam full of respect for the wire-swingers who have to have a good measure of faith in the helmsman.
best wishes to all from germany

This looks like a good idea... POWER TO THE CREW!
At least, that's what happens in my boat... unless I am at the back!

Only problem i get (on a good day) is when he drops the sheet with me on the wire - normally this leads to a 'refreshing' swim (and did last weekend). Also when he runs out of beer money......

Matt, I'm glad to see that my helm isn't the only one who forgets to hold the one piece of rope entrusted to him. I also get wet when he drops it!!

Perhaps there is some medication they should be on to overcome this rope dropping problem? Is this related to the running out of beer money? Any one have any details on this?

Cheers

isn't it about time to start a wedding photo section in the gallery for anyone who has married their crew after sailing with them? the loudest obscenities I have ever heard on dinghies were between husband and wife combinations after something had gone wrong......

Well I shall dish the dirt on my helm. Pete went out in my Byte CII today and raced it for an hour in a force 3, came in shore sat down and hasn't moved since. I was beginning to think I would have to get him a straw for his pint. The fuss he was making over his aching arms and legs. And now he is out catching flies as he can't stop yawning. That was just one race. What will he do at the nationals. He is now thinking about his new race strategy for the nationals: very early nights, healthy food and certainly no alcohol.
