Hi,
we want to establish an event at Treves, Germany, i.e. "Iso German Open", "Treveris Cup for asymmetrics", ... Unfortunately in Germany there are only a few Boats registered. I think such an event would raise the interests for asymmetrics in our region. We are sailing on the Monaise barrage, the river Moselle.
Some of the German Boats have already shown their interest. But it would be nice to have a fleet of more then 5 boats. The Italians will be informed also. Please let me know, if you are interested or even you intend to come.
The race is prescheduled for the Ascension Day weekend, May 1st - 4th. So might be enough time for racing, supporting programme and travelling.
Treves is the oldest Town of Germany, 30km eastern from Luxembourg City, 450 km south eastern of Calais. It has 100.000 residents. There are a lot of historic sites. The Moselle region is well known for the wine production.
There are a lot B&Bs and Hotels nearby, but it will be possible to camp at the marinas area. The following schedule may e proposed, I would love to get any suggestions.
Cheers Nik, ISO 719
Do, May 1st 11:00 Free Training 13:00 Briefing 14:00 Start 1. Race 19:00 Barbeque

Is there any racing on the second day. Or is it just the Tour and wine tasting?
How many races in total?
I assume there is just race on the Sunday too? May even be time to get the late ferry home for work on Monday.
Do you have a link to where the water is on a Google Map? Found Treves but can't see a lake other than than the river.

Is there any racing on the second day. Or is it just the Tour and wine tasting? -->This is discussible. The schedule is a proposal. I think ist might be interesting to do something beside sailing, espacially when the way is so far. Alternatively we can schedule the 2nd day:
Alternative 2: 11:00 2 Races, Lunch 17:00 City tour (see some roots of our culture, even the birthhouse of Karl Marx) 18:30 Amphitheater (special performance) 20:00 Wine testing (dinner)
Alternative 2: 11:00 City Tour (see some roots of our culture) 13:00 Lunch 14:00 Porta Nigra (well known monument) 16:00 The Cellars of Treves (very special) 18:30 Amphitheater (special performance) 20:00 Wine testing (dinner)
How many races in total? -->depends on the final schedule, and the weather conditions: 8 to 10 races. Now we are in the planning phase.
I assume there is just race on the Sunday too? -->One race is planned, only when there are sufficient wind conditions.
May even be time to get the late ferry home for work on Monday. -->Of course, this is a must. You need 5.5 hours to Calais.
Do you have a link to where the water is on a Google Map? Found Treves but can't see a lake other than than the river. -->It is the River. There is a barrage. 0.5 to 1 knot stream. We sail normally up and down only, because the wind direction is guided by the river. The river workes like a nozzle. So there is more wind then expected in the inlands. The rowing club has problems with his races, because of wind and waves. Have a look to http://www.isoracing.org.uk/db/sailingdb/index.php?_m=_default&_a=goo gle&rgn_id=6 The mark in the south marks our marina. The marina offers free camping for the paticipants of the races, partners and family.
This is a proposal. I look forward to any suggetions.

Hi Nik, If we can make it we will. There are now two active ISO`s in Munich and I am sure the other boat will be interested to. Will forward this info to the owners of our old boat in Koln also as I am sure they would like to take part.

Here it is :-
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Trier,+Germany&sa=X&oi=map&ct=title
Clearly river sailing - but big wide river judging from the pics and the size of the boats in the marina. Approx scale from Google - 250m wide by about 5 to 6km long between bridges.

Looks different - which is what quite a few people have been asking for ...........

As you see in goole map the Monaise barrage has 200m x 3km. There is a sluice in NO and a bridge in SW. The current has a speed of 0.5 to 1 knots. No problem for the ISO. Normal wind direction is SW or NO (95%). So we will sail "up and down" rather a triangle.
