First event this year is quite early in the year at Datchet on the 8th and 9th of March.

Usually we get quite a good turnout to Datchet so I hope you all have it in your diaries and are coming along.

I hope to be there if I can get a crew. Who else is coming?

Count me in for my first ISO open meeting, nice to put names to faces, and to sail against other ISO's too.
If any of you see me on the water close to you, please just go the other way as quick as you can especially if it is windy

For anyone who hasn't looked the long range forecast it is perfect, 15 - 18 knots SW - W over both days. Currently trying to organise a crew but will definately be there.

1013 either needs a dog sitter so the crew can come out to play or failing a dog sitter, a crew!

Personally, I would not recommend leaving your crew in the back of your car for too long. I made that mistake once, the mess he made was unbelievable not to mention the smell (we all know what a wet crew smells like if not dried out properly after racing). Not tried the towbar method. Do you use a chain or is some rope ok?

For those who didn't make it you missed a great event. We had a shared start with the 4000's which made the racing a bit more interesting.

Saturday's racing was held in some really windy conditions but the RO got in 3 races. The Laser 4000's really showed their speed advantage being able foot off and plane upwind. Downwind was all about the angles, not binning it on the jibes and being able to get the kite away in time in the gusty conditions.

Sunday was just about perfect with the ISO's just having the edge upwind being able to outpoint the 4000's. Although not as windy as Saturday there was still more than enough and the occasional increase in wind made the downwind legs exhilerating at times.

Look out the photos. The Datchet rescue boat seemed to be taking them the whole event.

Well done Simon and Sarah at the Hoo in the Buzz, and all the Buzzes who appear to have had a very good event too. Must have been really tough there on the Saturday though.

Well done Simon & Sarah! Great result for the Buzz class.

Fully commend the Race Officer at Datchet. It is a very long time since we had races with such a quick turn round time. Off the water Sunday by 13:30 after completing 3 races!!! Told you Neil wasn't to be trusted - going out and getting 3 bullets on day 1 of his first ever ISO event! Grrrr....!!!!!! Don't go getting used to it though Neil mate.

King George TASA event is the next on the calendar (not an ISO circuit event) more details... www.tasa.org.uk Then 2 weeks after that is ISle of Sheppey 26th / 27th April. Hope to see you all pull your fingers out for that!

Yes it was a great event , race officer on the ball , never had such quick turn arounds. Pleasing to beat the 4000s round the race course in race one of sat Everybody seems very welcoming in the iso fleet too.
Thsnks to everyone for the settings and tips over the last week or so they certainly paid off.
Roll on sheppy

Neil
