Forecast is looking good sunny and windy, perfect. No excuses for nobody to turn up this time.

I will certainly be there and very much looking forward to it, Only hope the race officer is as good as the last one!

I think it is a fair handycap that you should sail without a boom.

Sorry you have not had it back sooner, Pete has it and i will contact him to make sure he brings it.

See you there

I'll be bringing it - made a few mods to it though - like big lead weights moulded into the outboard end!

Anybody know of a dog sitter? Flippin dogs!

There sure is!! Obviously we will be there and i know of some others. We haven't been out in the Buzz much either during the winter months, just been using our Merlin, should get out in it more now the seasons arrived though.

The forcast certainly looks good!!

David and I had planned to be there but now David has told me he has loads of GCSE stuff to mark and needs the whole weekend to do it. Aaagghhh.
So I will spend this weekend trying to master my newly acquired Blaze which I have bought to sail all the weeks David is in France (every school holiday). These teachers! Maybe I should change my crew.

Well those of you who didn't bother going missed out on a great event - conditions on Sat were perfect (sun, wind etc). Club was fantastic - cheap curry and bar + pool and even the campsite didn't want paying! A great week-end, just a shame there were not that many competitors (if we don't turn up clubs may become reluctant to host us - any ideas how to encourage more people to join in??). Anyway thanks to all who helped organise

It wasn't the fact that we didn't 'bother going' it was purely the fact that to travel from the south west to the east coast two weekends in a row was a little expensive for the likes of us. An idea maybe spreading the venues over each weekend i.e: East coast one weekend, west of london another. 6 hours travel and a good curry or....

Don't forget that it is fairly early in the season and some sailors have exams etc and other commitments.

Hope to see you all at deal!?!

There are exceptions to the "Didn't bother...." Bryn, and you guys are one of them mainly due to your location never mind your exams. However it was VERY VERY disappointing to know that there were two ISO's at Herne Bay out racing on the Sunday, plus lots of Buzzes around the medway location. Why the flippin heck the likes of those people didn't make the effort, that is who the question is more aimed at I'd say.

I think there was a slight mess up in communication with regards the fixture this year, what with a gala event at Sheppey, then the following weekend a buzz event at Downs SC, then the following weekend an ISO event at Broadstairs - With a schedule like that there will be a poor turn out at one or more events. Two events in one pay month is definitely harsh for practically all attendees I'd say. So in this case I'd say it ok to have a Buzz open and an ISO open the weekend after each other like Downs / Broadstairs, but there should be 3 to 4 weeks gap between these two and the Sheppey event.

But hey, it was a great event. The Saturday for me made up for all of last years events I reckon! Perfect, just what the doctor ordered.

Pete

Unfortunatly we couldnt make Sheppy as I had to work all day Saturday and Sunday morning. We did however put the boat on the water at Herne Bay sunday afternoon as we felt 3 hours sailing was better than none. We had pencilled in Broadstairs to bring the boat to, however it now looks like I will be on Coastguard Duty in Portsmouth on the Sunday so im not sure if we we will be able to do it. We DO aim to do events, but at the moment im in the last few weeks of uni year 1 (exams near!!!!!) and helm/crew is prepping for A levels. Add the mirror dinghy commitments into the equation and at the moment im commuting Portsmouth to Kent (or further) each weekend. Once the summer comes proper and education ceases we will hopefully have more free time to do as we choose!

On a side note are there any Training Days scheduled for 2008? Have been told by Julian to try and attend one/more if possible!!! We were looking at the Weston &/or Queen Mary events but theyv gone from the fixture list. HAve they been cancelled?

Apologies for not making the effort Pete, still looking forward to meeting you all when we get the chance.

Alex

I agree Pete,

Most of us look forward to the new racing season all winter and those that are lucky enough to have open events on their doorstep miss out on the chance to race against their class!?! Crazy!

In response to AlexB, [this may need a new thread?] We (at roadford) are hoping to host a training/Tuning/racing weekend on may back holiday. would be good to see some of the east coasters over to show off and test their skills on our shifty, gusty inland wind? details will be posted on the website soon by Roger and Penny.

See some of you on the weekend!
