Torbay is a big area and as it is all the clubs combined to make Torbay week, I thought I had best ask where we were launching from. So information passed to me from Roger Eyre:

"Launch will be from Paignton Green just north of Paignton Harbour – where P.S.C is located – Free Dinghy parking is provided here too (Friday night – Monday pm).

The Entry includes two dinners for two at PSC

NOR is available form Torbay Regatta www

I suspect most will camp the Paignton End

NB – it’s August Bank Hols – and All the World goes to Torbay for this weekend – so book up soon – or be prepared to move inland!!"

I hope this helps you all.
Any other tips, advice, useful info re the event, please post here.

Pete

It must be something about the purple boat. The Wulfruna Hotel in Paignton has just requested clarification as to whether Don and I require separate beds!
See you in August, if not at Calshott.

We have a purple boat and don't get asked those sorts of questions. I think they have heared about your pink shorts.

Has anyone booked a campsite? I was thinking I would rather be where everyone else is if there are others camping.

We went and had a look and found at least two good campsites, both about 3 miles away (uphill) from the dinghy park. Both have websites - search for Byslades Camping (tel: 01803 666930) and Beverley Park Camping (tel: 01803 843887). However car parking nearer the dinghy park will be the problem...

But there are loads of B&B within walking distance - some of which have limited car parking available. I take absolutely no responsibility for quality (remember King George B&B 2006 Stuart!!) - I just wrote the numbers down as Roger drove around!

All start with 01803...

Sundale - 557431
Adelphi - 558022
Rock View - 556702
Charnwood House - 558889
Commodore - 553107
Seacroft - 523791
Ambassador - 664464
Three Palms - 551340
Paignton Court - 553111

These are slightly further down the prom but looked OK:
Sefton Lodge - 557242
Marine Lodge - sorry no number (Roger was going too fast!)
Romford Lodge - sorry no number (Roger was going too fast!)

As Pete says - it's going to be VERY BUSY that weekend. So book early. Don't take chances as you might be disappointed...

Clare, Atticus, Sebastian and I have booked up camping at Galmpton Touring Park. Details at www.galmptontouringpark.co.uk 01803 842066, look very nice, views of the Dart but I think it's about 3 miles from base.

There is an official method of entry found here...
http://www.kbsuk.com/torbay/events/
Select "Full Dinghy Regatta Programme" then on the next page, top drop down box, select the class you are entering and then fill out the form.

Also, I have set up a dedicated page for the event (for both classes obviously) on the ISO website:
http://www.isoracing.org.uk/events_results/dedicated_pages/2008/2008_
nationals_torbay.htm

Hope that helps.

Pete

Hi all,

A question for Josh and mike really, are you planning on free camping in the bongo or have you booked for this weekend?

or are any other Buzzes camping near by and have a suggestion?

Suggestions would be appreciated as i am too slack to search myself!!!

Cheers,

Bryn n Can, Buzz 590

Well, at the moment we are not too sure on if we are going and as my helm is currently off in the south of france (alright for some) i can't ask him but if we go i think we are planning on finding a random place to park, we obviously have an advantage having a disabled badge but i expect you will find somewhere although you may have to do some driving around.

Just a note to remind buzz sailors that to get a free exclusive nationals polo shirt you must enter by the 19th (which is also the deadline for the meals)

And also once you have entered you must email me with your size which is the same as the hayling polos, or the size chart is on the buzz website.

Also please make sure you tell me if it is a ladies fit or not.

Cheers

Josh

We are also selling the polo shirts to anyone that would like to purchase them but these still need to be ordered prior to the 18th, the cost will be £15. If you would like me to post your shirts then it will cost £3 per order.

Amidst all the other undoubted distractions of Torbay in late summer, including men in Speedo's and girlies in wetsuits, has anyone yet noticed that the most extreme distraction of all is bound to be the appearance of the 12ft skiffs. Hopefully not too many of the ISO fleet will be tempted to sell up and go for one.
Richard in Deutschland, currently getting a hard time from her indoors because GB keep winning more medals than Germany!
