I will be booking the weekend off work, but have yet to find a crew due to 'er indoors will be back at school teaching the little 'uns. I'll either be stopping in my van or the campsite.

Still awaiting more details on the event as to when the race days and training days (if any) are.

Anybody interested in a training day before the event?

I will be going. I hope to find a stand in crew for Friday, as Rachel will be teaching again by then.
Will Friday be a training or race day ?
I will be camping I think, does any body have more details of camping?
I have got a couple of people who would crew if any one is looking.
Let me know.
Dave

The fixtures list says Friday to Sunday. As far as i know the buzz fleet are not racing on friday but I have not heared any thing about the iso's.

I think it would be a shame to only have a two day nationals.

Thats a real shame why and when was that decision made?

Will there only be six races?

Whereas I understand it is not ideal to only have a 2 day nationals I believe this is a good decision.

We really do want as many people as possible to attend. I am sure alot of people could struggle to get the friday off work, even the none school teachers?

I think you are right on all of the points that you make Ian.

However these things need to be discussed and planned.

Is there any chance of four races each day?

Hi Rob,

The Buzzes took this popular decision some time ago.
I emailed the ISO committee email group about it (I think you are a member?) but only a couple replied so I took a unilateral decision as we needed to get things moving.
Most people I have spoken to had difficulty with Friday. On the positive side, most people I have spoken to are coming so I think there will be a big turnout.
There will still be a practice race on the Friday for those that can make it.

A few details on the Nationals before i go away for 2 weeks (to do Bass Weeks in the Buzz!!)

Hi Colin

I must have missed the message. Sorry.

I think it is a good idea to have a two day nationals this year and cant wait for a big turn out. Just hope my knee is better in time.

4 races on Sat would be great if poss.

Thanks

supposing that someone would like to come from abroad and finds a boat over there, what may be the suggestions for travel ? where to land ? how to get from the airport to the sailing club ? my idea, if I find a boat, would be to come on friday and leave on sunday night, so only taking a day off ...
anyone able to give a lift ?
thanks

I don't know the area well, but i'm guessing that you would land at Southampton. I'm sure a lift from the airport will be possible, i would offer but there are only 2 seats in our van and i'll be in one of them!!

Hello all
There are several options for travel - fly to Southampton (40 mins away), Gatwick (2 hrs away) or Heathrow (2 hrs away on the M3). By boat, there's Dover (3 hrs drive), Portsmouth (40mins drive) or Poole (1hr away).
There are only 2 roads to LoS, both get very busy as there are only 2 roads. The 1st via Fareham (20mins) is best if you're coming from either direction.
You could hire a car or take a taxi (prob £30 from Southampton) and would def hire a car from Gatwick or Heathrow, or take the train to Fareham, then take a taxi.

If you buy my boat, we can definitely talk travel needs !

Friday is no issue, though with my son playing rugby at Twickenham at w/end,

Cheers

David

1013 will be there - still awaiting my crew to confirm his attendance.

Friday will be practice racing.

Friday evening will be a Q&A session on rules, tactics, helm & crew techniques. This will be for the ISO and Buzz fleets. Probably be starting around 18:30. Top of the fleet ISO and Buzz helms and crews will be there to answer any questions you may have.

I'll be there too but ony Sat and Sun. I have been big boat sailing this year but now Cowes and the Fastnet are over I will be back in the ISO.

It certanly looks like the attendance will be quite good for this event. I trust everyone is making an effort for this meet.

Yep - great event, just a shame I can't nail gybes in heavy wind though. Thanks to all those involved in the organisation from both the Buss Class Association and also Lee-on-the-Solent Sailing Club, as well as all the competitors (old and new faces alike) for a really good week-end.

The Buzz report is already up on the Y&Y website (thanks Ethna); http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=148541 - a slightly longer version is on the Buzz website (www.bu22.co.uk) - thanks Josh, along with the results (these were sent to Y&Y!).

Well done to Simon and Clare, very worth winners, but to show they are still mortal they managed to capsize on Sunday letting Stuart and Zoe taste voctory in the 5th race.

Also just noticed ISO report is up on their website - http://www.isoracing.org.uk/results-a-reports/268-2009-nationals-lee-
on-solent-report.html

Cheers
Jane

Jess and Katie managed to get some shots of the sailing from the shore. They are mostly from Sunday's racing though the first few are from Saturday. Here's the link:

Thanks for the photos, we enjoyed looking through them, particularly number 40, boats everywhere!!! Ideal for the front of a rules book we think, although we believe everyone got around without a problem.
