David - are you sure you have ISO 520 - I thought this was my boat?

it could be that I just have some of your old sails though?

Check the hull numbers and not the sail numbers.

yes - as I suspected - I'm wrong!

my hull number is 250 - I do have two mainsails with the number 520 on tho - I assume the previous owner either bought them second-hand.

sorry for any inconvenience David.

I'll tell you now Murphc, you are not wrong. Hold 250 upto a mirror and what does it show?

Ok, I'll tell you. 520!!!!

I know this because the ISO started at hull number 501.

So somebody has 520 sailnumber on their sails and a different hull number - David!

The number on the aft face of the transom is printed on the INSIDE of the hull when they put it in the mould. Therefore you are looking at the back of the number. It doesn't look wrong to you as a 5 looks like a 2 and a 2 looks like a 5 when looked from either side.

Print out 520 on a piece of paper then hold it up to the light and look at 520 through the back of the paper - it is now 052 (you think it is 250 but it is 520 as you have just printed 520!)

The original daggerboards also have numbers printed into them near the top. They stopped printing these due to people purchasing replacements and the numbering system going out of the window.
