Do we, the Boss Association, have much in the way of publicity materials such as big posters? If you can get some really good pics I can get really large print-outs done and bring them down to the training weekend in time for the show...

You can send up to 1G files using http://www.yousendit.com/ - if you have the upload bandwidth. Pretty handy for the odd 5 to 10M or so

How about a 240v petrol Genny? Would that be ok for the stand?

The event approved sparks will provide electric sockets for lights etc. but at a price. Bob probably has the details.

sounds a bit weird. Can't the video guy produce a DVD or maybe an mpeg/avi/wmv file. That would make life easier - I can supply a laptop pc and 18" TFT panel to play it on
I don't understand why you'd need a performing rights licence for that.....

or something like that

Sounds all very "officious" to me.

Why not ask the show organisers as they are the people most likely to object, also they will probably be better informed than we are.

If you want power on the stand - you have to pay extra. If you want music - you have to pay and also require some license. If you want video - .......... All a rip off really, but if you have some good footage, would be worth it for the class. Bob knows a lot of the ins and outs, but like Mike says, the best people are the show rip off-ers, sorry, organisers.

Come on guys - read the RYA paperwork. It isn't as bad as all that. If you are going to use copyright material you have to pay the Performing Arts Licence fee. If I remember correctly, if you can prove you own the copyright / using copyright free material you don't. RYA and Ally Pally are obliged by Copyright / Performing arts law to ensure you have an appropriate licence - and you wouldn't want the fine if you didn't. All the same as downloading MP3s and not paying for them.

Details are in the RYA book - which Peter has a copy.

Yes, Peter's got all the stuff but he's been in Italy, so probably hasn't seen this thread. I guess he'll take a look at the bumf shortly

Sorry not to have caught up with this before.

I can double-check, but in my Show pack it only says anything about needing permission to use videos etc if they have music (presumably as a sound-track). I don't think we're likely to need this, are we? I will also check the situation re power, but again if we are provided with a socket and just need, say a 4-way lead, we should be able to bring our own.

The main item is of course the boat itself - so we do need a consensus on which one to use!!

Red Oktober is startin 2 look a bit sha**ed with old age, so i think that is a bit out the question!
The video will be edited with music - impact wise it would more ideal if sound was included but it will b good either way.

OK guys.... here's a general update as I see it.
1. We have a stand
2. We have some volunteers to staff it - some defibnire, some possible - but cuold people confirm when they can provide cover?
3. We can use 812 as the show boat (we can clean it up a bit at Datchet?). If we do uase our boat, John can get it there on Friday (can anyone help?) and I can stay to the end on Sunday and take it away again. But happy to take any other suggestions!
4. We need to sort out what equipmant we are giong to have - looking back through the mails, there seem to be two offers of LCDs
5. Assiming that a TV is definitely on from somewhere, I need tp book a power cable (at a cost of £50+ , but we're b*gg*red without one!!)
6. I am expecting to receive exhibitors' passes any day now. I will post them on to anyone who is definitely coming (let me know how many you need), or pass them on at Datchet (ditto)
7. We need any decent pix that anyone has - either hard copy or to run through the TV?
8. er, that's all I can think of

See you there, and I hope at Datchet before that!

Peter

Hi guys, if this is of help, we have to copyright to all the images on the link below:

http://www.itdynamics.co.uk/gallery/index.htm (Then click on the boat!)

They are a cobmination on Abersoch and the nationals a couple of years ago.

I would be happy to arrange for ITDYNAMICS to e-mail them to you at high res.

We are both away skiing that weekend, else would like to help.

Thanks guys: nice to see some good pix of the old boat! - suggest you maail them both to me (Peter.Bennett@dh.gsi.gov.uk) and John (j.shelton@acsoft.co.uk) so we can use if possible.

All best - are you planning to go to Hayling for the Nationals?

General update as of Tuesday 14th....

I have received the passes - 5 for stand build-up and breakdown, 10 general exhibitors. I'll bring them to Datchet next week, but give me your postal address if you need to have them that way instead. Please be forewarned that you will need to have a passport-size photo to stick into your pass.

We also have power arranged, in the form of a shared power lead.

OK.... current situation is that 812 should be there: Mike P and John S setting up on Friday and there on Sat, Steve and Nick Murray, and myself there on Sunday. But it would still be very helpful to have more people - so if you can, please volunteer to do an hour on the stand and give the regulars a break! There should be some good video footage from last weekend's blast round Datchet, provided the technology is in place to show it! In any case if you are the show, come and see us, and catch up.

Sounds cool. Only problem is that if it has music, then we're going to be hoisted on the performing rights thing again, unless you have copyright to the music. Let me/Peter know ASAP so we can arrange the licence with RYA if necessary! Failing that, we'll have to keep the speakers off
I will be at Ally Pally this afternoon, so you can e-mail the file to my normal work address, and I'll try and pick it up at home when I get back. Failing that, post it on an FTP server somewhere and I'll pull it down at home
What format it the video? I need to make sure all the codecs are on the laptop (DivX etc)
Great work guys - see you soon

How much is it for the Performing Arts Licence fee? Peter... does it say anything about how to acquire one and costs in the handbook thingy?

I'll second that (since Bob beat me to it)! Good work all round - hope it managed to work on Sunday. Now we need a smaller version for the website! (maybe with less of that red boat )
