Our spin pole comes out by about 2 feet at the start of the hoist but then stops and only resumes its journey to its fully out position after the kite is up, needless to say this causes considerable problems. Have played with the block position at the bow end and made sure that the pole is slippy. Anybody else experienced this and found the cure? It is a mast head kite.

It sounds as though the pulley system that pushes the pole out is snagging. When the pole is stowed, there should be a double back-to-back block right up at the bow under the sock. When all is well, this block is pulled back smoothly towards the base of the mast to launch the pole. If it snags anywhere (maybe on the sock or the support bar for the spaceframe) it could delay launching the pole until the final part of the hoist.
This block is also famous for getting gunged up with sand etc, so check the bearings run freely

Thanks for the advice. It looks as if the block was catching the rubber ropes for the trapeeze so we have moved them from under to over the top of the pole and spin socks. Hope this works.
