Excellent - welcome Diederik. I'm glad it all worked out in the end. What repair work did you have to do? I thought it was in good condition?

Some repair work on the hull where the spinaker pole leaves the boat, the mast: gooseneck is nearly pulled out and the mast below it might need to be repaired (says an expert), the sails,e.q. boltrope is torn loose where the three upper battens are, rigging: some blocks don't work and the rings that connect the shrouds to the hull need to be replaced and some rope needs to be replaced.

I'm quite busy at this moment so I hope to sort things out within a month. I would like to sail it.

Hi,

I noticed that a jibsheet turningblock at the side of the hull is broke. Try to find something that resembles it in a catalog. Thought about a through the deck block. Cann’t find anything that comes close. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks Diederik

Last two posts removed as well as one sentence in Diederik's post further up. This is due to not keeping with the spirit of the board / class and sailing etc.

Sort out your squabbles with each other in private via email / phone.

Diederik - if you would like assistance regarding sourcing materials and best methods to repair, then please do carry on. Lets not get bitchy here the two of you.

Do you mean the block for the gennaker on the side of the boat? The jibsheet block is on a track on the deck. For the gennaker, we use a normal ratchet block, where the ratchet can be switched off in light airs. Anything from Ronstan/Harken/RWO/Holt will do the job I guess

No I mean the jib sheet block. In 780 the jib sheets starts at the track, runs to the jib, returns to the track, runs to the side of the hull where there is a special device through which it runs and from there it goes to the crew trapeze handle. That special device which consist of a aluminium plate with a through deck block. THis block is jammed and I can't find something that looks like it in a catalog. If this is not clear I will take a picture of it.

I think you mean the cam cleat is jammed, this is seperate to the metal plate, any cleat will do (try harken cam cleats), it screws straight into the plate of the mounting on the hull.

I did a little looking around and i think you need a sheave box, Visit link for examples, they bolt onto the underside of the metal plate mounting.

If we are in a guessing game, my money is on the holt block HA4801 Midi Through Deck Block (bottom of the Product Table page from the following link).
