We are after suggestions as to where to hold the 2005 Buzz Nationals.
The proposal is to hold this in the summer hols rather than in May in the hope that more boats will be able to attend. The ISO's are also likely to attend but this will not be their nationals. The approach should bring the numbers up and make the event a more attractive proposition for the prospective clubs, sponsors, etc.
Let's have lots of suggestions and soon please. |

Hi Chris A central venue would be good for us (Weston, Chichester, Portsmouth?) although Downes did a great job this year! I suppose it depends where all the Buzzes are, and where is easiest for the majority to get to. We are happy to travel further if it means getting more Buzzes on the water. Come on Buzz helms - where are you? Regattas are great fun, and you learn loads. We normally organise a pro/am competition, so you can still win a prize from the bottom of the fleet!

Hopefully not the Mayflower as the security is terrible and the race officer kind of mcuked up mine and Ben's 800 nationals this weekend just gone (mind you everbody has their bad days even the race officer!)
If we go across the water to the Mount Batten Centre, we will have to take our own race officer.
Excellent venue though everybody!

Mayflower SC seem to be having some problems, and boat security can be an issue. The Corinthian YC is close by and have hosted large events before - but they would use the same car park for boat storage & I'm not sure if they could provide their own race officer.
Mount Batten Sailing Centre is OK and seems to host lots of nationals - but not so good for accommodation and partying as you're on the wrong side of the river! There is a water taxi though, so it might be worthwhile Chris making a 'phone call!
How many Buzzes would travel this far though? Downs seems to be the largest fleet.......
