Nationals - the Class Association need to pay Restronguet SC to host the event by the end of the month.

PLEASE therefore sign up before the 20th April - cheques payable to the ISO Class Association and mailed to Ian Keam-George at the address on the form.

http://www.isoracing.org.uk/2004nationalsnor.pdf

- go on - go on, go on, go on ! - do it NOW !!!!

Yes, we do have to pay all our host clubs to host events, pay the rescue boat fuel bill, ensure rescue cover, have prizes ready and several other costs.

From what we're hearing on the Committe, we're looking forward to a really good Nationals turnout - something like 35 boats - and maybe more........ but it does need everyone to commit to the event. To keep costs as low as we can and ensure the socials have enough beer in stock ( priorities Bob !! ) we need to know how many to cater for both on and off the water.

Yes - you will be able to sign up on the day - but - this year I'm afraid we will have to charge you the late sign on fee as published.

Come on folks - let's make a great event even greater ........ do I hear 40 ISOs ???

Now for some VERY VERY VERY important travel news!
That weekend is the VW Campervan & Beetle 'Run to the Sun' weekend. Traffic WILL BE BUSY!! If the weather is nice, then you'd best call the helicopter in to air lift you to the sailing club, or pull over to the nearest harbour and sail to Restronguet!

Martin Laity (Restronguet) has commended me on my decision to go down on Wednesday night. Fingers crossed I make good decisions like that on the water during the racing!

Just to keep you all updated.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Ian and Katie Keam-George for winning the Nationals in what ended up, convincing style, at the weekend. Very consistent on the first day with three seconds, a bit rocky on day two with a 1,7,8. Then just as we all thought Ian and Katie maybe hoping for day three to be abandoned to give them victory, the race was on and they blasted the fleet away with two bullets... I'd take my hat off but the wind did that anyway....

WELL DONE

Seconded!

Congratulations must also go to Ian & Katie, along with the RSC Team, for the actual organisation of the event! The entire thing was excellent, even the hoisting and lowering of the AP flag was done to perfection in the end!

I do believe there were a lot of people really enthused by the close fleet racing throughout the entire fleet. Hopefully more boats on the circuit!

Blo0dy well done to all involved!

Thanks people. I agree that it was great event-not that it was influenced by the result of course- the members at RSC did a truly excellent job in every area and from an event organising perspective were top class.

I'd recommend any class to go there for an open or championships even taking into account the 6 hours driving from Essex.

What also made it memorable was the increased attendance together with the close racing throughout the fleet. Hard racing on the water and a great attitude when ashore.

Thanks to all those involved in running the event and those who participated.

Finally a big thank you to Guy Cotten, our event sponsors, who generously provided our prizes.

Beat me to it again ! Ah well - you don't have to be first to be Chairman

Definitely congratulations to all concerned - National Champs, runners up, mid fleet, tail enders, race crew, shore crew, galley & bar crew ( just need another two or three barrels for our next visit )

REALLY impressed with Guy Cotten's sponsorship ! What a great set of prizes.

Plus the new etchings prize from Henry's Mum to augment the Team Trophy. Very generous - thank-you.

Plus RWO with the season's Pro-Am prizes which do so much to encourage the whole fleet.

And on top of that the pro photographer who took about 400 shots of the action. Watch this space for the web site details.

I spoke to various people through the rankings and everyone but everyone had a great time. The further increased turnout certainly made it exciting racing with some adrenalin pumping mark rounding !

... and to Western Area Rep, Chris Webber for leading Team RSC through organising a superb event. Ace job Chris and Team !!

Now the fleet has done the pathfinding from East to West over Bodmin Moor, we're looking forward to seeing Team RSC hold on to their trophies at other events. The A30 worked for us - even on a Bank Holiday

Well done Katy and Ian - an impressive way to finish the series!

Thanks also to the organisers and sponsors for some excellent sailing, albeit in small numbers, but it's always fun avoiding the ISO back markers..... I'm afraid I had to leave the prizegiving early, so maybe I missed the great set of prizes. Or maybe the Boss entry fee was lower. Who knows? Lucky I brought the cup back

Now to try and get the numbers up

Oh by the way, does anyone have a copy of the results? If so, can they e-mail them or otherwise let me know. I've already forgotten in all the excitement

Email me the report and pic, as well as the paper name, address and issue number. I'll put it on the website.

I struggled to Tamworth services and had a 2 hour kip in the back of Hotel d'la VW Passat Estate, then carried on to parents house in Donny to drop the battleship off. Drove 8 miles home and managed to get to my bed for 03:45 Monday morning. Was in the office for 07:30. A little bit tired!

Excellent event Tim!

Photographs from the Nationals can now be seen on www.photolounge.co.uk

Click on the image search link then search by sail number, crew or helm name or if you want to see the entire portfolio just select ISO (or Boss) nationals.

A few pics of the prize winners and some casual shots on the water are on http://www.byphotos.com/public/customer.html?customer=182415

Nothing like as good as Lee's excellent action shots - as you would expect - but if anyone wants the full res pic just e-mail the reference(s) to me and I'll e-mail them back to you. Each shot is about 500k so make sure your mail box is empty.
