Can someone help me, i have just started racing my buzz but i dont understand the handicap rule.
If the PY number of a boat is lower than the buzz, does the buzz have a lower or a higher handicap on it?
I dont know if this makes sense to anyone

Hi - basically the lower the number the faster the boat - so if you're racing against other classes and they have numbers below your Buzz at 1005 they give you time - conversely if they have higher numbers you give them time.
If you need to know how much time this is how you do it
Corrected time = (time elapsed in secondsx1000)/PY No.
Worked example for elapsed time of 1 hour;
Corrected time = [(60mins x 60x1000)/1005]in seconds = 59 mins 42 secs
For a laser Radial (PY circ 1134??)
Corrected time would be 52 mins 55 secs - so the Buzz would have to be 7 mins ahead to win if the race was about an hour...this is simplified because everybody finishes at different times..
I'll look forward to everybody else telling me I'm wrong!! |
