Hi,
Today a had a discussion with the boat builder who is going to repair the front of my boat after my crew swung into the hull and crushed it. The discussion was about reinforcing the front part. In the end he came up with adding a stick from port to starboard half way between the spinnaker chute and the rigging. In that way when a crew bumps into the hull again the force is taken by both sides instead of one. An other idea was a “knee” in the same place between the side of the hull and the deck.
Did anyone consider such measures ever before? Could it be worthwhile adding a thing like this or was it just bad luck that the side cracked open?
Thanks, Diederik
