Just recently purchased an Iso, after sailing a Fireball and 420. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to see it being rigged, and because of this we are alittle unsure of a few things.

The main problem so far appears to be the Jib system-Although Im sure its really quite simple. Any Advice, pictures, diagrams from anyone, which shed some light on how it goes would be much appreciated!

Where are you John? Can you be a bit more specific in your profile. Then maybe someone could meet up with you to help. Alternatively, pop into one of the ISO open meetings happening on the first 2 weekends of Oct. Glossop (Derbyshire/Manchester) is the first weekend and Datchet (Heathrow) on the second weekend. So unless you are far flung in Cornwall or Scotland there's one in your area, and I sure someone will be only to pleased to help.

Oh Yes, get on a training weekend to maximise your enjoyment from your ISO

Oi! there are plenty of Iso's in the far flung corners such as Cornwall...

YES Yes yes!!! I know that there are ISO's in the far flung corners.
I was just being realistic that it would be a long schlap from Cornwall to Datchet or Glossop just to find out how to rig your jib.

But we sure enjoy meeting you far flung folks when you get the opporunity to get to an open meeting.

Do you mean basic rigging? If so here is a quick description from memory -
The jib tack is attached to the space frame behind the spi chute via an oval screw up type shackle. The halyard is attached to a deck eye on the mast somewhere above spreaders - comes down to a block attached to the jib head (proctor wire block with clevis pin type fitting) then back up and into the mast. the wire comes out of the mast below the boom with a rope tail. Then there is a rope and pulley tensioning system below and to port side of mast. The hook of the tensioner clips into the soft eye of the halyard.

Sheets I think go inside shrouds and over space frame through barber hauler blocks and then through the turning block/cleat. Originally I think they were supposed to be continuous (i.e. both ends tied to the clew) but i have always rewired mine as non-continuous with the ends tied to the loop of elastic next to the trapeze rings.

Many thanks Colin,you hit the nail on the head with your comments, thanks again ,and there was I,thinking not a soul would see my humble e-mail,but no,thanks to Mike's observations news of me jib has even reached darkest Cornwall when all along I hail from sleepy Suffolk,sorry Mike ,I was'nt very specific was I ????

John, I am the last of the Brightlingsea ISO's, not so far from the nearest point of suffolk. If you want to come down one weekend for a look or a sail, then contact me richard.salter @ t-online.de , or maybe i can take a short(ish) trip up to you. I'm not there this weekend but next 2 w/e's are possible. If you rig your boat like mine you may go as fast as me......I can at least reproduce the basics as distributed at very reasonable cost at ISO training weekends
