Hi folks,

I purchased from EBay at the weekend Buzz hull (no 410?) as a hull only deal. The hull has a few surface cracks and some minor damage fwd of the daggerboard slot but nothing that can't be fixed. I will be checking the boat for watertight integrity one evening this week.

The hull has spinnaker blocks, mainsheet blocks, spinnaker chute and pole outhaul lines but not much else.

What will be the simplest way to get sailing in the Solent without buying new mast/boom/foils/sails? I nearly fainted looking at the Wet & Windy new price list!! I am in the market for some training (dacron?) sails and used/chipped foils to practise with before upgrading.

I am an experienced dinghy/yacht sailor but new to asymmetrics and trapezing. Any advice/offers welcome.

I have some dacron reefable training sails Andy.

They're very hard-wearing and good for learning with.

If you're interested, drop me an email "d dot taylor@hud.ac.uk"

Hi Andy

How did you get on with your quest for these essential items ?

The reason I ask is that I have been offered a decent hull/standing rigging, but the cost of a new daggerboard, rudder and sails is totally prohibitive

It is a real shame, because I am sure we are not the only ones who would love to join the Buzz fleet but would find it cheaper to buy a complete boat. This leaves perfectly good hulls sitting around until they are scrapped, and certainly does nothing to increase class numbers. The stark reality of present day economics I suppose.

Good luck with your search

Project on hold at present while daughters settle at senior school. I have sold the Enterprise so only one dinghy to focus on now. I hope the training sails were useful - I decided to pass on them in the end as I could not see where the rest of the rig could be sourced from.
The only number I can see is 410 on a small recess on the port side of the stern/transom.
Still hoping I can return this dinghy to a sailing condition...

FYI, Buzz tiller is longer than the ISO one, which is in turn longer than the Boss one!

It should be that the Boss has the shortest tiller, Buzz and Spice are the same and slightly longer than the Boss, the ISO is longest so can be cut down to suit. I can measure both later to confirm this if it helps though.

As far as I know the iso daggerboard will not fit the buzz (it is listed as a different part no. which I assume means they are not identical)

Still looking !!

ISO daggerboard will fit in the hole, but not ideal as longer and a lot heavier.
The Spice board is the same profile and construction as the Buzz, but a bit longer.
New boards are available, but quite expensive, i'll let you know if i hear of a spare otherwise.

Hi,

I may be able to help with a few parts such as Buzz tiller, possibly a boom, and possible a spinnaker, i do have a couple of jibs that could be used on a Buzz (almost identical, but foot needs altering to clear space frame).

Email bailey.stu@btinternet.com for details.

Are you still looking for parts to go with your hull.

If so I have a boat I am considering breaking for parts. For the right price I have all the spars, sails and bits you could ever want.

Drop me a line if you are interested and maybe we can agree some prices.
