I would think booking the ferry early was a good idea,as some do half price deals if booked early. As for accommodation, I can't recommend anywhere in particular, but the sailing club site has helpful links, if you can understand a little French. www.srr-sailing.com |

There is a nice campsite in between the town and the sailing club, about a 15/20 minute walk to both. Perfect location. Only other campsites are about 20 minutes in a car. Was there last summer with the RS eurocup, and lots of sailors were in the campsite- did have to be pre booked though. Didnt't need to pay a deposit until arrival, just faxed through a written reservation. Cant remember the name or fax no of the campsite (maybe campsite du soliel-rings a bell) will look it up.
Ferry wise, I took a Dover Calais and drove as cheaper ferry ticket. It takes about 7-8 hours, however a new dual carriage should be finished (could be n35??) which should make the journey considerably quicker (had to do 50 miles last time on the equivalent of the a38).
It was a great place!!
