Hi,
Has anyone got any suggestions/comments on the following?

I'm looking to get back into sailing having being out for 10 years (children!).

I'm looking for a boat to have plenty of fun in (and I don't mind getting wet!).
I'm also hoping to introduce my 10 year old daughter to sailing.. hence the 'single-handed' title...

I'm not looking for a "minnow", but equally, I don't want something that's going to kill me either...

Any comments as to the sense (or otherwise) of this would be welcome.

Then go for a Buzz!

I had been sailing for several years on front of a 470.
When I decided to sail with my girlfriend (absolute beginner!) I bought a Buzz... and we are having lots of fun, even if I was no good at helming! After one year and very little practice, we managed the boat in F8 and we were 8th at the Buzz Nationals...

My experience is that the Buzz is a very enjoyable boat, easy to sail, good to learn... so get one!

Just seen this message and had to add..
I have a 10 year old daughter and 13 year old son, have just purchased a second hand buzz to replace my Feva. Exactly the same situation as yourself, kind of single handed, but occasional light weight trapeze crew. The boat is excellent, not to big if you go single handed and ideal with a small crew, but I guess it also depends on your weight. I'm about 95kg and in light winds I spend most of my time sitting on the deck, or even occasinally on the other side to counter balance my crew as she likes to just hang on the trapeze. In this situation, I pull up and down the gennika as she cannot manage it and have a longer tiller extension if I'm single handed. But its still new to us, we are learning fast, but getting wet is a frequent occurance at present. This has turned out to be just right for my needs, fun use, club racing and very manageable.

Thanks to you both for your comments... I'm now the proud owner of Buzz 897... so, I expect I'll be getting rather wet for the next few weekends on the Medway! I've just joined Wilsonians and I believe that we now have enough boats to form a fleet... excellent (I'll be the one at the back then!).
regards
