883, will be keeping it in Hamble. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the original manuals and any other rigging / tuning guides.

Thanks

Nick

Hi
Mmm, not sure I can help you with any original manuals but I would suggest you look at both the Buzz website (www.bu22.co.uk) and the ISO website (link from Buzz site) as they both have lots of top tips. I may be able to dig out some bits that I could photo-copy if you need any more help but I would expect most is covered on one of thoese sites.

Also I would suggest trying to get to a training event (have any training events been organised this year - is there any demand for one - start a new thread if interested and I am sure the committee will try and organise something) or go to one of the opens - the first one this year is at Chew Valley, near Bristol in April. These are very friendly events and it really does not matter what standard you are - there will be boats you can look at and get ideas from and lots of willing people to help you with any problems you may be experiencing.

Failing that come over to Langstone SC (top of Hayling) and we will show you how ours is set up and even take you out for a sail if that would be useful.

Best wishes
Jane and Mark

Thanks for the reply, I'll check out the websites. I'm taking delivery this weekend.

I've been big boat racing for the last few years and my only recent dinghy experience is at Sunsail Clubs so I'm expecting to get very wet!

Also try Wet and Windy... Andy Holmes might have the original guides. I have one but don't remember where it is just now..

One thing that is (probably) not mentioned in the website: when hoisting the jib, make sure the metal halyard is not twisted, or it may be damaged when you apply tension to the rig.

Welcome to the class! Hope to see you sometimes (that would mean I am also joining the fleet for some event... being based in Italy I don't see many Buzzes!)

I have an original Buzz manual and video too!!

Jane and Mark,
I found the manual the other day and it should be with Buzz 1027!! It even has a personalised cover with Fritzz on to match the logo on your hull.

I can copy the manual for anyone who wants it, it probably doesn't give any more info than the website does, but may be useful. I can either send a copy by post or by email if i scan it.

Scan it into pdf if poss Stuart. People can then download it from the
website if they want to.

ISO has an ISO Rigging Guide:

I'll let you know how I get on.

Are you coming to any of the events this year? We've just had 15 boats at Chew where newcomers were able to benefit from plenty of help and rigging advice from more seasoned crews.

Conditions were challenging - very light winds - but everybody had a great time! Next event is at Deal on 5/6 May.

In addition to the advertised events, we're also hoping to have an informal event at Roadford S&RC on Dartmoor (nr. Okehampton) on the Whit weekend at the end of May (26/27/28 I think)

Let us know if you are interested.

A bit tricky to attend at the moment as I don't have a road trailer. The boat is parked in Hamble on it's launching trolley. I've been out a few times now and starting to get the hang of it (a bit different to the 40 ft boats with big lead keels that I've been racing recently!).

I've bought the rigging DVD from wet and windy and think the boat is set up right now. There is another Buzz parked in Hamble but I don't know who owns it.

Hi
I know it's a way off but if you fancy coming to the Langstone open in September (details on www.Bu22.co.uk) you could borrow our trailer (assuming you have a car with a tow bar). It might entail a bit of to-ing and fro-ing but we could work something out I am sure -we wouldn't need it for a few weeks either side of the event. Langstone is our home club. As you will have gathered from other posts on this message board opens are a fantastic opportunity to get hot tips from more seasoned sailors.
Equally we have a road trailor for Mark's RS600 (same as the one for the Buzz) which doesn't get used when we are away with the Buzz so you could borrow that if you did want to go to Roadford - just get in touch??
Cheers
Jane

The ISO handbook - very similar to the buzz one can be found at:
http://www.isoracing.org.uk/iso_guides/index.html

The single pole launch system -
http://www.isoracing.org.uk/iso_guides/isotweaks/index.html

photo's on how to rig the ISO - very similar to the Buzz (as the ISO is a bigger version of the Buzz) can be found at:

Hi.

I have now found time to make available the original Topper guide, this version from about 7 years ago. I can post it to you if you email me at bailey.stu@btinternet.com with your address.

I just need to make time to produce a version for the web site now!!

Stuart.

I bought my Buzz (847) last year but a combination of work and injury has meant that I have not sailed it much … I am looking for some idiot proof instructions on rigging the boat. Do you have any advice (rigging & set-up … especially the spinnaker & pole set-up) or can you recommend any reference material.

Stu kindly copied the original manual for me, and emailed me some useful photos, when I had just bought my boat.

If you let me have your email and postal addresses I will pass copies of them on to you.

As Dave says, either email him or me with your address and we'll get a Buzz manual to you, or if there are photos you need of particular bits let me know and i'm sure i'll have one available to help you rig your Buzz correctly.

I've passed the photos on to a couple of people Stu.

It would be good to make the photos and manual available on the website.

If I scan the manual, add the photos in and create a couple of web pages who would I send them to in order to get them on the website?
