My boom is getting very banana shaped and its looking like it'll be on its way out soon. What are the plans with the carbon booms? Is there an authorised dealer or anywhere to buy one? It seems pointless getting a new alloy boom if there will be carbon ones around soon.

Also what are the plans regarding all the other tweaks that were mentioned at the boat show? I'm curious to see how they are coming along too.

Thanks

Pleased to advise that we have a sample Carbon Boom being test sailed by the Tech Committee at present. Very early days yet to expect their verdict.

My expectation ( hope ) is that we will be able to make an announcement at the Dinghy Show 2005 having given it a thorough work out and perhaps then test sailed at least one modified version. I'm sure you appreciate it isn't a 5 minute job to either make or test and we don't want to approve any item that subsequently proves unreliable.

The rope and strop related changes shown at this year's show are already embodied in the 2004 Rules - so read and implement away. As you may recall the tubular wings were voted out by members along with a revised sail plan. The results of that vote appear back in the mists of this Message Board but are still there if you adjust your Board settings to show them.

Cheers

Bob
