Where is eveybody staying? The municipal camping site appears to be the closest to the club, but where is all the action going to be after racing?

we are also looking for a campsite and would like to know where people are staying. We looked for a euro tent type of set up and cant find one close enough, but we would be up for the camping municiple, if that is where the party is.

I think everyone is in the same boat, in not being sure where to stay. I was looking at the La Rochelle web site and can see that the sailing club is in the Les Minimes area, just south of the Town Centre. I think my wife found some self-catering apartments there, but that is about as far as we have got.

Following advice in an earlier post, there is a campsite called Du Soleil that is about a 10 min walk from the club. It is on the map and has hot water etc. It looks OK but to book, you will have to phone them (hows your French?). I do not know where the entertainment is in relation to the camp site. The camp site phone number is 05 46 44 42 53. However, if there is a better idea for camp sites we would be happy to go with the flow!

We will go from Dover to Calais on 23 Jul and do it in one day.

Du soliel was definately THE campsite to stay at last year during RS eurocup. It is equi-distance from sailing club and town centre (15 minute walk to both). Furthermore the next nearest campsite is a 20 minute drive- holiday in my book doesnt mean being designated driver!

Not to expensive either. You can write a fax to book (strongly recommeneded- were full last year) in English which they can translate. No deposit needed. Nice campssite- lots of encloves not just one big field.

Enjoy

We have done some homework on the Du Soleil Campsite by asking a French friend to call them. They only take bookings by letter to the following address: Camping Municipal Du Soleil, Avenue Michel Crepeau, 17000, La Rochelle, France. The Camp site is shut at the moment and the phone number to call is 0033 546 438120. They will not take a phone booking. The guy said that they were getting a few bookings for the period of the Eurocup, so if you want to camp,it may be a good idea to book soon. Unless you can write in French the advise is to keep your letter simple! They will confirm the booking by letter. It is 12 Euros a day payable when you arrive.

Is there any French writing people here who could do an example letter for us to copy and fill in the blanks with regards people, cars and nights...?

If so, please email the letter to isofeedback2@asafeplace.co.uk and I shall upload it for people to view and copy.

Freezes for me too. I had to reboot my PC. I think it may be something to do with my virus scanner as if I save it first then open it in word word hangs with the message - requesting virus scan. Never seen that before.

Right click and "save target as" then open once downloaded. It works for me.

I'll upload a pdf version instead of then.
