The rules have been modified regarding booms and equlisation and have been posted on this site. (See the link from the ISO home page)

The rules have been posted as an ammendment and will be changed in the official rules for next season but please be aware of them although nobody will have to make any changes to existing boats to comply with the rules. They just formalise some of the things that have been happening.

Equlisation. Crew weights on the day of an open will be used to determine if wings are used, with the formula remaining unchanged. Originally the configuration on the measurment cerificate had to be used unless notice was given 2 weeks before an event which never happened and caused confusion where different crews were used or crews had too many pies!

Carbon booms can now be used from any supplier, or home made providing they meet the specification. This rule has been made to address the issue of supply, specifically for carbon booms but also allows alluminium booms to be repaired by sourcing a new tube. This rule is to encourage use of mode durable materials on a part that is notorious for breaking and hoefully make it cheaper for those on a budget.

Rules are effective immidiately.
