Just a reminder that Calshot Open is the next event on the ISO circuit (30th June/1st July).

if you want to camp you need to book it with the Calshot Activities Centre this week (before 16th June) - Tel 023 8089 2077. I'm planning on camping down there just in case anyone fancies accompanying me for a couple of beers...?

We've got 4 ISOs at Calshot (all planning to take part) plus a few more people that are hoping/planning to come along so it should be a good turnout.

Might see a few of you down at Weston next weekend for the Skiff Weekend?

Jim.

Yep - sorry about the 1st race time - I know it's a bit off-putting for those travelling from further away. The problem is that we're contrained by the tides so it has to be fairly early on this particular weekend.

I think you're right and the best plan is to camp down there on Friday night too. It's a nice spot with good facilites and I'd be happy to come down and keep everyone else company if there's gonna be a few of us camping.

Jim.

I've just booked my camping for Sat night. Cost £5.40 per person per night. They now know all about us and the event so booking should be easy - call 023 8089 2077 and ask for Ann (in bookings).

The site is right outside the sailing club and 2 mins walk from the bar (+ great views across the solent to Cowes).

Last reminder (I promise)...

If you want to camp at Calshot for the Open event please give 2 weeks notice i.e. book today or tomorrow.

Jim.

If anyone HASN'T booked, I think a break down in communication has resulted in both Steve and I booking. I've not paid yet though. But yes, there's a "spare" booking for two people.

I haven't booked yet so I could take that space. I tried to book on Friday and they asked me to ring back on Monday as booking person was away! Lloyd.

Turns out he's booked in a B&B. So at the moment I have one "booked" space. I think.

There are 4 ISO's at Calshot...

Jim and Ali - ISO 511
Steve and Rhys - ISO 674
Dave and Rachel - ISO 12 (yep - I know it only starts at 500)
Stuart and Mark - ISO ???

Last time I spoke to Stuart and Mark they were planning on just coming along on Sunday - but the other 3 will be there both days.

Jim.

You have my empathy, it was a year ago i broke mine! Hope you make it back for the nationals. If i remember rightly, mum had to do lots of things for me (cue Annie)

Just to say thanks to everyone who made the trip to Calshot last weekend. It was great to see a good turnout despite the rain - although at least there was definately enough breeze to keep things interesting!

Aye, was good fun even if I did get rather overly aquainted with the underside of the boat. For those that weren't there, here's this event's excuse for only having one day of sailing:

We'd parked the boat back at King George by midday...
Still four races on Saturday (well, for most of the fleet) was a good effort on the part of the race team. And the Jolly Sailor seemed rather jolly when filled up with sailors. Thanks to whoever it was gave us a lift back.

4 events and not one of them has had sailing on both days!!!???

This Pro-Am Kitty is getting a tad on the large side! I don't think the nationals or Eurocup will be about winning the event, morre interest will be for tye Pro-Am!!!

Oh yes- I've got some other photos, from the Jolly Sailor, want them put up? I can either shove them on my flickr account, batch-convert them to sensible size and email them pete for the site, or send you them in their full 7MB glory somewhow... I've still got the high res versions of the views of towards Cowes as well. And, it seems, some pictures of my feet taken about 8am.

Pete, with regard to the pro-am kitty; as much as everyone wants receive big prizes at the championships can i suggest another way that you might want to distirbute prizes from RWO?

Obviously the idea of the pro-am is to reward improvement. With the lack of two day events this year, may i suggest that part of the pro-am prize pot goes to people who have not been at the front end of the fleet all season but have still turned out to events and have improved as the SEASON has gone on? I think it is these people that the class needs.

Hope the wrist is healing nicely in time for Herne Bay.

Spot on Graham !! It is to encourage improvement and get everyone talking to each other - and hopefully also encourage attendance.

Pete - reckon this is a very good proposal. Can we figure out a way of awarding based on race results so far ????

Real shame the weather has worked against us at every event this year. Exceptional circumstances which the Events Team can't predict. Please don't let that put anyone off coming along - the racing that has been held has been good competitive stuff - even for last place !!

Some more at La Rochelle would be really good ( stacker still available ) - and let's make sure the Nationals are well attended. Not been before ?? Don't think you're good enough to attend ?? Don't worry about either - it's not tooooooo serious and darned good fun. Newcomers - come and join in, you'll see.

Bob
