Unfortunately my poor helm has to have an operation for his knee. This leaves me with out a helm for the next two months. Is there any body interested in racing with me at Wilsonian sailing club. (Medway North Kent), the boat is in great condition with a new set of sails and a new spinnaker. Give me a ring if you would be interested? You are going to have to learn how to helm Caroline. Crews are generally easier to find! |

Along the same lines - What is the secret to staying on your feet when helming? I am 6 ft, and spend too much time on my knees in tacks, Gybes are easier, but just can't get the timing right in the tack to stay on my feet - crew does ok with good foot work. Is there a secret? |

Role the boat more in the tack. From sitting on the side, tack the boat. Do not stand up before the tack. When the boat goes through the wind, stand up on the new side on t' other side of t' boom. |

No splash! (Unless you role it when breezy f3 to f4+)
Ensure the mainsheet is out of the cleat else SPLASH!
