Folks

Please be aware that ISO 2007 is owned by Ian Moss and is the last of the Topper built boats. The boat above is not therefore 2007 but should be numbered at least 2008 on the little transom sticker.

This boat is, I believe, the Rondar built ISO shown at the Dinghy Show 2007. At that time it had a couple of build errors as it was rushed together for the Show. These are correctable - but I am not clear whether they ever were corrected :-

Pole on wrong side
Leaks showed up during the test / demo sailing (hence correct description of almost new)

Good boat but recommend on water test and check corrections made to be Class compliant before you buy.

Caveat Emptor

Hi Bob, I don't know about the status of this boat but I think Ian Moss' boat is 1207, not 2007...
This may have sail number "2007" as it was year 2007 when it appeared...

Yes, my boat is 1207 and as far I know was the last Topper built ISO.

My guess too is this is the Rondar boat. Ignore the sail number as it has never had an official one and to give it 2007 would not be helpful.

FYI ISO numbers started at 500 and we have seen boats with numbers right upto 1207 which infers there were 707 built.

Should new boats carry on where there numbering left off or start at some arbitary number? I personally think ths boat should be 1208.

Ian

It's a fair cop - should be 1208 to make any sense

Yes this is the Rondar ISO, I numbered it 2007 in the good old marketing tradition of the last two decades and because Wet & Windy acquired the License to build the ISO & Buzz in 2007. I am very aware of the work that needs to be done to rectify the build issues on ISO 2007 and Buzz 2007 built by Rondar Race Boats, which is in hand. Yes it has been sail to evaluate it and Ian Moss sailed it at Datchet hence the association of the 2007 sail number. The tooling is in safe keeping and I am sure that Simon Cory will make as good a job of the next ISO as he did of the Buzz built this year. I was hoping that the ISO class would help to develop the ISO and I have offered an ISO mast rigged Buzz style (with fully sealed mast and external halyards) a number of times with no interest. I have also sourced a inexpensive 4mm rope for end to end splicing which would facilitate easy continuous kicker. When I sailed the ISO I found the controls not at all accessible, first ISO sail in probable 15 years. Ian Moss lent Ronda his ISO, the last built by Topper, when Ronda were building ISO 2007 I assumed they could comment on the layout, I certainly think there is room for improvement. The boat is available for development work before it is sold but now there is dual supplying I cannot invest any more time or money in the ISO but would welcome any suggestions before we build the next ISO. I hope this clarifies the situation and is helpful.
