Downs SC invites all Buzz sailors to come along to the Buzz Open meeting on 5th/6th May. You're guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome and conditions permitting, excellent sailing on the open waters of the Downs, as those who came along to the 2004 Nationals will remember.
There's a list of local accomodation on the club website at the following link:
http://www.downssailingclub.co.uk/links/bedb.htm
There are also local campsites at Sandwich and Martin Mill.
1st Race starts on Saturday at 12 noon with a earlier start on Sunday (9am) to allow for travel home. However, visitors are welcome to stay on and join in the club racing on Monday.
I hope to see you there,

Chris Dutton

Chris, thanks for the invite. It is a timely reminder for us all to plan our May Bank Holiday sailing at Downs. Looking forward to it already!

We have just returned from Chew Valley where there was an excellent turnout of 15 Buzzes (but v little wind). Lets hope that we can get an even better turnout at Downs which should be possible with the numbers of Buzzes resident in Kent.

Bob

Hi Folks,

great to hear that you're coming to Deal. By popular demand the start time on Sunday will be not before 10am! We wouldn't want to interfere with drinking time on Saturday night.....

Hi people, interested in coming to downs the weekend, will prefer to camp due to lack of funds! But cant find any camping details on the website. Anyone know of any campsites fairly close to the club?

Hi Stu,

there's a grassy area in front of the club where you could leave your boat overnight but it would be more secure to put it in the compound. I'll ask if there is a key-holder nearby who could let you in,

best regards,

If you are a spare available crew, post here as there are a couple of helms with boats still looking to get on the water this weekend.

Hi All,

Thank you to Downs SC for a well organised and enjoyable event at the weekend!! Another good turnout with good racing and weather too!!

Well done Simon and Annie!

Bad luck Ed and Sarah, could have been different if your halyard held up!! And Pete . . . you really should try and stay in the boat!!!

Thank you Chris for writing the report so quickly, this can be found at http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=136249

There's a great photo of Simon and Annie with the report, are there any more photos from the weekend?

See you all soon,

Stuart and Zoe.

Hi Guys,

Thanks Downs SC for looking after us this weekend, it was a big learning curve for us as it was the first time we had sailed on the sea together, never mind the 'choppy' conditions.

It surely was a challenging weekend, but despite the 700 mile round trip, a broken gearbox and sore shoulder(s) we had a great time and are even more determined to come back next year and put up more of a fight for the downs sailors. (especially those who left the scratch on the front of poledancer

Look forward to seeing you all at felixstow and any of you who are coming to our event at Roadford lake.

Also thanks P&R for the tips!

Bryn and Candice

Excellent weekend. Well done to Downs SC for all their hard work. Perfect weather also.

Can't remember the last time I did so much swimming in one year let alone twice in one race!

VW Remote key fob worked fine after two swims! - Probably due to the fact my wetsuit shrunk in the wardrobe over the winter and didn't let any water inside!
