Marco is making good progress with the 2008 Eurocup in Italy. Final decisions have yet to be made but Maccagno on Lake Maggiore is looking favourite, between late July and early August. It is Marco's home club.

Lake Maggiore is further west than Garda, pretty much due north of Milan on the Italian Swiss border. Not quite as breezy as Garda, but still good.

We are hopeful of having about 9 Italian boats + maybe some Swiss and German ISOs, as well as us Brits.

Consideration is also being given to venues on lakes Garda and Como, but Maggiore certainly has the edge at present.

Constructive comments would be appreciated.

Sounds Good,,

I certainly plan on going next year if it is on one of the northern lakes.

Plan is then to drive over to Croatia afterwards and maybe do some sailing there too.

We'll be going too, whichever Italian lake it is on.

Ian, do you need extra crew at Croatia!?!?!!

You can get many information on the place (including hotels, restaura
nts,...)visiting:
http://www.prolocomaccagno.it/en-GB/in/intro.aspx (in english).

I promise a draft of what is going to happen by mid november, any ide
a would be welcome.
Based on Stephen suggestion, the timing should be 5th->8th August.
For those interested in staying longer there may be an option to join
a couple of other open events at the same sailing club:
Sunday 10th August - Open event (still to be confirmed)
Friday 15th August - "43rd Regata del canalone" (103 boats atending
this year)

Maybe we should orgainise a weeks yacht racing before/afterwards. Just need a day skipper for each boat.

I am sure we could fill places from other fleets if we couldn't get enough from the ISO's/Busses?

Lake Maggiore is really close to Malpensa airport, so if someone is thinking to fly over while someone else is bringing the boats on a double stacker could find it easy to rent a car from Malpensa.

I hope to have also 3-4 Italian Buzzes there, not only 9 ISOs, so... this could really be a good event!

hmm,
would i be able to go in the Spice? even if i run with the iso's?

if i can i think i will come along. shame that foreign driving laws are 18yrs + otherwise i could tow myself there, and if someone is willing to/is towing, i have a double stacker that can be used

From the organization point of view I can see no problems hosting the spices as well. We would be willing also to host the boss if they turn up...

James, try to get more spice involved if you know them, but consider that you'd be welcome even being the only spice...

Good to meet you at the weekend James. Why not just swap the spice for an ISO? There are plenty of reasonably priced boats come up for sale. And at least there will definitely be others to sail against. The older boats are easily as fast as the newer ones they just need new homes and some tlc!

Well it makes sense. If there are 9 Italian ISOs going and there should be at least 10 UK boats and potentially a couple of German or Frenchman. Why sail around in the only Spice? How about coming to another ISO event when there is a bit more wind to help you make your mind up?
See you next year Lloyd
