Hi everybody,

following some discussion we had at the Eurocup, I'd suggest to make a slight change to the current class rules, allowing the use of cleats to adjust strops length provided NO holes in the hull are made - like several ISOs have.

This would allow easier setting when sailing in varying wind conditions, which in turn will make boat handling easier. You know how hard it could be to pull the main to centreline if you also need to pull it down that extra inch!

Adding two cleats will not cost much, and the system will be less prone do breakage as compared with the currently allowed "adjustable rope" - don't remember the name now.

I don't think this can be considered "chequebook sailing", which we all want to avoid, ust a little help to make our boat even more enjoyable of what it is now.

I'm up for anything that allows a bit more freedom in the rules for fixing the things that bug us.

As long as we retain all the major components (hull spar's, foils, sails, etc) performance wouldnt change significantly, regardless of what was done, and thus costs are controlled... however it lets the tinkerer's play and could lead to ideas and improvements that would bennefit all.

Oops - I guess we should be disqualified as we have already fitted these having seen them on ISOs! They do make adjusting the strops so much easier that in turn helps you control the boat that in turn may help prevent an incident and a big repair bill so I would agree it is money well spent for those who like to tinker just a little.

No protest this time... and I hope it will be class legal soon!

We agree. On the water shroud adjustment would be good too. We went out on the last day at La Rochelle fully powered (mistakenly believed the forecast!) and it turned into a F4-5. After we had pulled the kicker on hard, the strops were way off-centre.
