Hi All

We have a Boss at Weston which has been left in the sin bin and I have been tasked with selling it. I was approached by a Boss sailor at the recent TASA open re selling it back to the class, which sounds like the best thing for it.

Where do i go from here??? who is the right person...

BTW - 16/17n JUNE, Weston Skiff Open. Book this date in your diaries, massive handicap skiff open, BOSS welcomed, 150+ boats expected.

Sponsors - SKIFFSHOP, TACKTICK, KNIGHT FRANK

Cheers Olly

Let me just get a couple of things straight here....

The boat in question is mine; Boss 757 'Roadshow'. I have been a fully paid up member of Weston Sailing Club for two full years and in that time, have not been allocated a permanent boat park space. As such, the boat was kept in their 'X' Row beside the carpark and has, without my knowledge been moved inexplicably to the sin bin. The boat is displaying a 2006 membership sticker clearly on the cover and there has been no attempt by the club to contact me regarding any membership discrepency.

I regret that since my brother moved to China, I have struggled to find a replacement regular crew and as such, the boat has not been used. However, when it was laid up at Weston, it was complete and in excellent working order. Since being moved to the sin bin at Weston and presumably as a result of being publicly labelled an abandoned boat, somebody has helped themselves to the tiller extension. Thankfully this is the only missing part but nevertheless, an expensive one. So, I understand that, if you were under the impression that the boat is abandoned, there might be a legitimate argument for making good use of its parts. However, the boat is owned and as the owner, I can say with complete confidence that it will soon return to the Boss circuit. So please return my tiller extension and nothing more will be said about the matter.

I have now moved the boat from Weston while the club investigates the cause of this appalling administrative error. If you have my tiller extension or know where it might be, please email me at ro@dshow.net or call me on 07967 661157. As I said, I appreciate the circumstances under which it was taken and will thank you for your honesty and ensure that the matter goes no further. Or, if you know where I might be able to buy a replacement, please let me know.

Rob

That is an impressive f**k up by Weston! I would put a post up at your club asking about the tiller ext, as it would fit any cat or skiff type boat. Good luck and hope to see you out on the water soon!

Hi Nick,

Good to hear you're still active in the class. I'm looking forward a few more humiliating defeats on the Boss circuit!

Yes, you're probably right! Anyway, I've got a lovely new mainsail now although I've not converted the sheeting or the jib yet. So, as soon as I can find someone to crew for me, I'll be back on the rails again. I'll be keeping the boat at home in Liphook, Hampshire and will be trailing it so there's a good chance my leisure sailing might be back at good ol' Queen Mother! You still there?

So, I'm keping an eye on the class activities and have registered on the crew database so hopefully, it won't be that long.

See you soon,

Rob
