Currently in talks with Herne Bay SC regarding a training day for all Buzz sailors attending this years nationals. All those up for this, please post as we want an idea of numbers so HBSC can see if it is worth it or not.
Date - Friday 24th August (day before the nationals kicks off).
Person running the Buzz training - Stuart Bailey (plus any other top of the fleet sailors who might be available).
Food - in negotiations to get the galley open (also depends on number of attendees)
Training aimed at - those who haven't done any race meetings, back to mid of the fleet.
Training provided - anything you want / need i.e. how to rig, tune, launch, capsize (recovery - as I'm sure you can capsize on your own well enough), tack, gybe, sail in a straight line, racing tactics, racing rules (am I the best person for this bit!?!?), land your boat, repair boat, drink beer......
Cost for the day (for those attending the nationals event over the following 3 days) - FREE!
This is just to get a feeler for how many. Confirmation later if we get the ok from Herne Bay SC.

We were coming down just to spectate and get some advice, but a training day would be exactly what we need.
Thanks!

If you spectate at any of our events, then you miss out on excellent practice time!
"Practice makes perfect!"
Try out on the water, find you are struggling with something, ask the so called pro's in the bar that night, then put into practice the next race day when you get on the water to do battle again.
You only really learn by doing.
Any undecideds will learn so much by attending the 4 or 3 day weekend, than you ever will on this message board in a couple of months I know!
To highlight the positives of the training day - have a read of this page on the ISO site (plus the links to the weekend reports on each of the comments): http://www.isoracing.org.uk/events_results/coaching.htm
Also: http://www.isoracing.org.uk/cgi-bin/teemz/teemz.cgi?board=_master&act ion=opentopic&topic=101&forum=ISO_Development
The day will help break you into the event gently - rather than turn up on the race day blind so to speak.

Hi Pete,
I hope to get over to Herne Bay on Friday afternoon to have a practise sail, but I can also help out with advice on rigging, equipment etc. if desired. There may be one or two others from Downs SC too,
Best Regards,

Hi Chris, Stuart will hopefully be running the Buzz fleet, we would appreciate your help with advice and rigging / tuning the other boats.
Could you and any other Nationals attendees please fill out the form on the ISO website - lets get a feel for how many are going. I know of about 11 definates - most of which haven't filled out the form.

Is it OK if we make it by lunchtime on the Friday?
I don't think we can travel Thurs.

That will be fine, you'll just have to play catch up. There will be people around to help you out.
We are planning at the moment to start at 09:00 - the earlier we all start, the more we get out of the day.

OK, we'd better make the most of this opportunity so we've changed our travel plans.
We'll be down Thursday night and ready for 9.00am Friday.
Will we be able to berth the boat at the SC on Thurs? |

Any news on a Thurs drop-off at Herne Bay?
Regarding format - we would just like to know that we are/not doing roughly the right things on and off the water. So rig and set-up the boat and test sails please for helm and crew if possible:-)
We almost beat a Grad today, but also lost by 6 mins to a well sailed wooden Heron (which is why we're called Coffin Dodger).
