Dont dont. Unless you weigh less then 22 stone all up you can just forget it in those boats. Unfortunately we were 29 stone and even when the wind did blow and we could hike the boat still didnt go any quicker. It is great that topper support this event my god they need to change the boats to something that you can work with rather than a plastic bath tub.

I am sure Nick Craig is about 14 stone and his crew is at least 9 stone making them at least 23 stone and they seem to do alright. |

If Nick is a bean pole how did he win the Finn nationals a few years ago. At the end of the day there is no boat that suits all weights but the xenon is about as fair as it gets. I have crewed in the Endeavor in Ents and everyone said all the Ent sailors had an un-fair advantage just because they took the top three places but no one gave them credit for winning all the other nationals they had to win to be invited. When it was in 400s I lent my boat on a couple of occassions. I wathched the racing and everyone said that the 400 was to much in favour of the heavy weights (Nick Craig still Won) but the same people were at the front! One of my colleuges put his lack of succes down to the others all cheating! Last year another guy who I will call X said his boat was slower than the rest because it was a differnt shape below the waterline! You wouldn't belive the variety of reasons for not winning. The one I like to use is we were not good enough. Out of interest Nick has represented the Finn OK Enterprise 400 at the Endeavor and has won many other Nationals and he was over 14 stone for some of them. Now don't get me started on the talent that is Roger Gillbert, 4 times rs 400 champ! |

Funny you should mention the cheating as there was a lot of that going on this year. I personally believe that the xennon is not the boat to be doing it in, but coming from a high performance background i would say that. I am more interested in speed than tactics. Its a real shame you are retiring lloyd and even more of a shame you sold your boat to the italians. Was hoping to do battle with you again next year. |

I would have happily sold my boat to someone in this country if they had wanted it at a sensible price but I only had one offer! The Italian fleet is growing! The Endeavor debate is a good one but there will never be an answer as everyone has such diverse views. In America the equivelent event is held in small keel boats to level the playing field. Marco is not going to collect our boats till after Christmas so why don't you come to Southend and do the Frozen sheets race at TBYC for one last race against us? It takes place just after Christmas. |

It could be worse, you could be the poor geysers who were national champs in Laser 4.7, Streaker or Vortex and have to sail a two-up, 3-sail trapeze dinghy LOL. Big respect to them! |
