Is it possible to have a twin trapeze on an iso? I know it would not be allowed in class racing.

Came across some Dutch posts a few months back that said they'd done it way back in '97 / '98 - and not broken anything.

Dead easy to fit if you replace the trapeze wires with thin rope. Equally easy to remove again for Class racing.

We've been threatening to try it for the last year and not got round to it. Just needs a long tiller extension to match - should be a blast

Yes, I have a second trapeze fitted some times. Sailed with it with some 160 kg crew. Had no problems. Discussed it with a *** who knows a lot about riggings boats. He thought it to be safe for the mast. Drilled an extra hole about 5 cm above the existing one. Furthermore I have an tiller extentsion of 2.3 m. (which is also usefull for single handed sailing as well). So give it a try it won't hurt . I'm going to upgrade to a Boss now for the real twin trapeze experience.

Cheers, Diederik

Sounds fun maybe I'll give it a go. Does the helm not need foot loops though?

Hi !

I asked the same question one year ago...And I finally did it.
We are a light crew (110 kg !!) and use to sail this way every time, above 8kts without wings.

No crack on the mast at this time, and a very good level for swimming

It's very easy to remove, so we could show you at La Rochelle.

(For Colin Snook: Spike is now a twin-wire boat, yesss ! )

Phil,
So pleased to hear Spike is still going. I thought you said you trashed him on the sea wall. And twin trapezes!

Just call me the polyester genius, please...

Spike is more ready for race than ever, and will be at La Rochelle.
(Spike is more limited by the helm technique than by any material problem..)
