Hi,
I noticed on the boat spec section that it is now class legal to replace the old wire strops with a different material. Is it also acceptable to use a split ended main sheet? I thought I might try it to so I have to fiddle less with adjusting the strop lengths.
Thanks in advance.

Interesting, i've never thought of doing this, i can't see anything in the class rules that prohibits it except the rope the main sheet is made of but this could be classed as part of the strops but you had better wait for other opinions, i think it would be interesting to see if it works.

Basically you can splice two bits of rope into the end of the main sheet and instead of tying the main to the normal strops you take the two bits of rope and splice them to where the normal strops attach then when you sheet the main in the two bits of rope can also go through the block and will self centre the boom.
I've only ever seen this on a stern sheeted boat but i think it will work on a buzz if you make the normal strops short.
