Where is everybody staying? Anybody camping?
We want to be where the action is...now a student (and will be broke as this event is at end of Freshers week!) so need cheap options please!

Hello
Buzz 797 will also be there!

We were going to wait and see what others are doing. Dont know where you can camp unless at the club. There are hotels/ B and B's in the area but not at students rates!! Probably about £50 upwards i think.

It's only about 40 minutes from home for me but would like to stay for the evenings entertainment!!

Stuart.

Hi Tom
We've booked a B&B. Forest View Hotel. £55 a double.
Looks potentially a bit 'Fawlty Towers' but it's supposed to be quite close to the club.

Note for Jean-Paul
Lizzi has now got crew and will be there!(yes, and in the warmth with the bank of Mum & Dad)

Penny,

Do you have a contact number for the forest view? Think we will just bite the bullet- sounds ok and will be better than camping!

Thanks

Tom

Spice 320 will be there, will probably find a hotel nearby if possible - fancy somewhere to dry out and warm up! - we may end up in the 'Fawlty Towers' hotel too!

Found some contact info for the 3 campsites above - shown below as 1st link = location, 2nd link = contact info. Hope it helps.

For hotels take a look at www.yell.co.uk - use Enfield, Chingford, Waltham Cross, Waltham Abbey in the search criteria. Anyone know a better hotel finder ?? Please post the links.

Bob

When you have all had your stay, and if you have stayed anywhere recently at an event (Roadford) please start a new thread in the accomodation section of the message board, title the new thread with the sailing club name - in this case there will be a King George SC thread after the event - or should we start a new one now?

Pete

Hi All,

The Inlands are now only just over a week away so lets have an update of who will be coming?

I think we should make a special effort to get there as Bob has been trying to have the Inlands at King George for as long as i've had a Buzz!! Now there is water there we may as well make use of it!!

Stuart.

Buzz 1027 will be there - most likely with a home repair job on the jib and spinnaker as we accrued more damage at the week-end and we don't have enough time to get them to the sail hospital....

We are staying with friends nearby so unfortunaltly won't be around for the evening social.

It was rather windy last Sunday wasn't it!!

I may have a jib and spinnaker you can use if yours don't repair too well.

Was it windy on Sunday !! Only had about the last 3 feet touching the water, we're told. Came in for touch down nearly 3 minutes ahead of the fleet. Oh yes !!

Inlands NoR and SIs should be posted imminently - along with details of the social. Expecting it to be an "Eat as Much as U Like" BBQ for a tenner or less in the Club House - meaning cheap beer on hand as well. There will be a veggie option.

Plus there will be some entertainment - for which we'll attempt to get somewhere close to the legendary Broadstairs example......

So for those staying with friends locally - Jane / Mark - bring them on down for the evening. It'll be good - and save you the washing up.

The pond is brim full - can't get any more water in it. So all we need now is the entire population of all 4 fleets to turn up and really make the weekend one to remember !!! Just add wind.

Bob

Josh,

Not sure if Zoe's Dad and Sister will be there or not.

Bob,

Will the club be open Friday at all? Am considering bringing the boat along then.

Friday night - opening the Club for boat drop off could be arranged but I'll need a time for everyone to turn up who wants to bring a boat in Friday night. Afraid I can't do it staggered throughout the evening.

Club will be open from about 9am Saturday morning.

Bob

Hope we have plenty of takers for Saturday night - got the club to stock up with decent quality meat, veggie stuff ( inc separate BBQ to cook it on ) as well as associated salad - all of which will go to waste if not eaten.
