Me 'n' Biggus sail a Topper Sport 16, a single wire 'family' version of the Boss at the moment - not yet got our own Boss. We were sailing on Loch Lomond last week and we got some fantastic 3 sail reaches, the boat was really flying! So we got our hands on a GPS the following day, although we didd't feel we managed quite the same top speed we did clock 18.1 knots.

Question: what can we expect from the Boss and who reckons they are the fastest?!

Must have bin pretty windy??? Would you be able to handle a boss in similar wind conditions??? If you could then u would get (if you got 18.5 in the sport) in excess of 25 i guess if not more.........

Not a chance with the Boss in F5! We will be quite happy with F2-3 to start with...

On our 18k day the wind was gusting from F4 to the top of F5 and the boat, in the gusts, was a bit of a handful. Our kite ratchet block disintergrated under the load...

At the nationals in restronguet, the last day was a solid force 5, some gusting 6!
Downwind we managed 2 catch 1 of the big gusts and accelerated thru the gust! The rig above flexed forward and we could feel ourselves rise up on the wires! A 35horse rib couldnt keep up, dunno wot kind of speed that ws tho!

Just imagine how fast you can go with two pork pies on the wire. Remember the 'working breeze' at Garda. But Restronguet was quite impressive - from the bar....

Bigguss here - the scurvy crew for "tell boy" – “by ecky thump lad” it was fast and the chunks of skin missing from my hands from the sheet show it was a blast.
We bust the 2nd kite block this year?
Thanks to all for the insurance information - got it sorted - great help!
Looking forward to the BOSS and the Beefy crew (108 kg but fit and somewhat agile) has been warned to move a little slower or we will meet the fish and need snorkel and flippers? Already in training and getting fitness up for the BOSS – bring it on!
