After trying the seperate pole lauch system I have now converted to the single line system. Not only does this make things much more simple but it takes the slack out of the halyard when the kite is stowed. I cant help but feel that the seperate pole launch only serves to complicate and clutter the boat. One word of advise when you fit the single line system to older boats make sure that the pole cant go forward out of the small bulkhead in the bow. I have left the existing tack line and use the new line to launch the pole only to make sure that the pole stays in the boat. I cant think of any other boat that uses a two tear system. |

Have to say - having been converted back to the split system, I think the single line system is rubbish.....the main reason for my comment is that theres a whole load of friction in the system, plus if you need to dump the kite halyard in a hurry to the wet stuff you can't because it is connected to the pole.
Anyhow, the Laser 5000's, B14's and 18ft Skiffs use split systems and they certainly don't complain. I thought the single point system was good for the same reasons your saying - but now the split system is far quicker, slicker and as long as your crew tidies the lines after then it works a dream, thankyou Ms. Keam-George!!!
