At long last just got my new main. Great I thought until I unrolled it to find a somewhat different sail. It's got a lot more black stringy stuff in it, the clew out haul patches are of a different shape, the top batten is a bit longer and a different angle to that of the spice, so much so that it looks more like an iso sail. The sail is much better made than my old sail. The sail has spice stickers on it, it's not date stamped. and I need to be on the water for next weekend. Any comments?

Lay it over the top of your old sail. If it is majorly different, I strongly suggest you ring your supplier!

Spent the day on the phone to wet and windy as well as sobstad,no real joy other than sobstad say nothing as far as they are concerned has changed although the bolke in charge is as we speak swaning around Cowes on holiday. Wet and windy seem to think it may have something to do with production in china and posible lost designs. The two sails are very different a bit like chalk and cheese, first the shape very square at the top around the top batten, second the colour, a lot darker due to increased amout of black stringy stuff in the sail, third the little plastic thing that slots into the mast is now secured with a length of webbing, the sail is also heavier and better made. Spoke to chris last night about it I'm going to give it a go at the weekend see how it goes.

took the boat out for a spin on sunday and went like a rocket loads of power, needed a lot more mast bend to get the sail to set (adjusted the spreaders right back) this had the effect of flatening the kite a bit letting me point off the wind a little higher, the boat seemed a lot more balanced, and less frantic in the gusts, thumbs up so far. |
