It will have to be a flipping time travelling trailer then - the Buzz nationals were at the end of last month!
Or did you mean Lake Garda?

Hi there,
Yes, I’m aware of that but thank you for your reply! I must admit that I’m very knew to sailing with Buzz. We have been in Garda for the past two years now (unfortunatly as a spectator). I’m from Ostend (Belgium) you know. At our sailingschool we are very much familiar with 420 and 470 and we spend most of the time training on flat water. However, since I’ve discovered buzz… I just want to get (and keep) buzzing. I ‘m very glad to have find you guys on the net. As far as I know, me and my crew seem to be one of the very few buzz-sailors in Belgium. So we find our selves it bit on our one, you see? I’d love to find out more about you and the Buzz-world!!!!
PS: do you believe I have a chance of finding a second hand trailer? Should I just order one at Topper?

Try contacting West Mersea trailers direct, assuming you have one of their trolleys. They often have used stuff in very good condition. See http://freespace.virgin.net/trailer.sales/, phone 0870 90 99 88 7. |

I thought West Mersea had been bought out by two lads from Wales!?
Andy Holmes / Ian Moss know the details about this.

I would say your best bet is to talk to Andy at Wet and Windy http://www.wet-windy.co.uk . He may have a second hand trailer, but if not can supply a new one. The Buzz trolly fits on a standard 250 road base.
If you want one to take the boat to Garda there is a chance we could bring one over on our way there. Perhaps meet you somewhere between Calais and Brussels although getting one in time may be an issue.
My understanding is that West Mersea has been sold/relocated and it may take some time for them to get organised!

West Mersea were still operating out of Colchester the other week when I phoned them. I thought Dixon-Bate (Rapide) had bought them. It's quite a large operation, perhaps they will stay put.
Incidentally at 65mph plus I start to get a vibration in my car with the boat+trailer on the back which feels like the buffeting you get when a sun roof is open, any ideas (apart from slowing down). No its not the sunroof either, I don't have one. |

Your trailer wheel is loose.
Or
Your bearings are worn / loose. Stationary, grab the top of the wheel and rock it in and out. If rattles / clungs then bearings are at fault.
Obviously not much experience of travelling Chris, think you need to do a bit more then all these tips of travelling etc, will be relevant. (Goes for everybody else)

Nope it's not loose wheels or bearings I checked them again recently. One of the tyres is not quite a round as it could be but I'm not conviced that it's bad enough to cause a problem.
Been to Downs with it, we are both a bit battered after the sailing, comes as a bit of a shock after sailing on a pond ! Physio for the crew, and bashed ribs on my part. No sure if we'll be fit enough for Sheppy but it must be easier there, we'll see, we need the practice. |

Had the same problem on mine.
Cause - sitting in the boat park with flat tyres ( before I got it ). Ruins the tyre walls completely so that as they are spinning the softened tyre wall expands making the tyre *very* lumpy.
Solution - new tyres at a whole £35 the pair.
Result - smooth ride. Only residual vibration is from the mast yolk pole which, being about a 15mm tube with another long pole strapped to it tends to resonate quite a bit.
Not found a solution for that yet - although putting the mast foot above the car seems to help a little. Strapping the mast to the trailer from the spreaders helps too - it changes the mast resonance point to near enough double the frequency and lower amplitude. |

Tying the spreaders to the trailer weakens the spreaders - I know from experience. Had to re-rivet the spreader bracket twice in one year!
If you are going to tie the mast down in the middle, use some rope / strop and wrap it round the mast and not the spreaders.

Bob,
Thanks for the tip on the tyres, I'll have a look, they've never been flat unless they were before I had it new !?

Lots of Belgian Buzz sailors! You don't need to book a ferry, so why don't you come to Garda? Let's have more "continental" boats!
