Having had the ISO for a year and not nearly enough outings in it, we are keen to learn how to control the boat properly.

So if it could be arranged, my crew and I would like to attend an ISO training weekend sometime early in the new year, ideally in the North West if we can get enough boats together.

Anyone else interested?

That way we might even try a few of the races on the ISO circuit this year, and of course we will then join the Iso Association.

Draycote near Coventry a good enough location for people?

Failing that, possibly a Glossop weekend - could be good as we could arrange this the weekend before the Glossop event (to be held early in the year - May), this will enable you to leave the boat there for the coming week to save time at the event the following weekend. Glossop will be ok for this I know.

Then have a southern weekend somewhere, maybe Datchet / Island Barn, also early on, may be April / May.

Steve B - have we a tentative circuit for the year yet?

Glossop or Coventry ok, Glossop being a lot closer to Preston.

As far as dates go, as early as possible really, preferably earlier than May. Is Feb/March to early and cold for people?

I am ok for any time of the year, we just need about 4 or 5 boats all about the same skill level to make it a better weekend with one coach.

Let us all know your rough skillage level Smileyrich. As a rough guess - or fill in your own comments.

0 = Capsize King all the time in any weather at all - never race!
1
2 = Not got a clue what the bits of rope do and apprehensive about any breeze - hardly race.
3
4 = Know when to pull ropes on but not sure why, capsize from force 3+, not sure why.
5
6
7 = Capsize occasionally but mainly when breezy. Know the cause.
8
9 = Hardly ever capsize and at the front end of the ISO fleet on the circuit.
10+ = Never Capsize in any wind unless having an I.K-G senior moment. Completely thrash the rest of the fleet at the club.

Any ISO race meeting results we could check out or any racing history?

Pete, I would put our skill level according to your scale at about 4/5/6 and hopefully quick learners, we are both reasonable sailors but new to asymetrics and the iso, we are definetly learning more on every outing.

no racing expereince with the boat except a club race with glossop on one weekend, previous racing experience with FD, Albacore, laser etc but all a few years ago (and again all local club / youth racing). But as we said hoping to get involved in the iso circuit this season.

We bought our boat from Steve Bell, so in theory the boat has a proven track record, just not the operators!!!

So any other northern boats up for some early year training ready for next season?

Richard

Well I've waited for someone to admit to being a 0-1 skill level before I admit to anything. We're about 3-5
We've never raced
Don't capsize in anything below a 4, not yet trapezed or shoved the kite out!

Need to learn how to do both. We're quick learners blah, blah, blah.

Glossop would be brilliant as we're just north of Leeds. We're up for anytime in the new year (subject to not being).

Bob

I know of two boats at least, that would be interested and they are based at Glossop. There are four others there but two of them are very competant teams.

You two teams have any particular months in mind when you would like to spend a weekend at shifty Glossop?

Have spoke to my crew and at the moment any weekend in February or March would be good for us.

What about everybody else?
