HI:
I'm new in the ISO class.
I would like to know that the force of wind (BFT) is possible with spinnaker sail?

Last Sunday 4-5 navigate force (Bft) without spinnaker and the boat runs a lot, but not if it is possible to go faster.

Thanks

Good sailing

provided that mast, shrouds, etc are in order and with no defects, there should be no problem in using the kite in a F6 (possibly more, but you need to be good!). In F4-5 you can surely use the kite, and remember that in that wind jibing with the kite is easier than without!

Sailed in 38 knots without the kite as we were just hanging on for our lives. (Hoo Freezer 2005?)

The windier it gets (F7+) the twitchier it is on the steering! But the easier it is to gybe.

The best advice I was given is; launch the kite and steer to keep the hull under the rig. Simple but it works. I think you will find the boat to be much easier to handle in strong winds with the kite up than you think. I think it's important that your crew launches the kite so that you can concentrate on steering. Just go for it and sail as fast as you can, that way there is less pressure on the rig than running with two sails. This is why gybeing is easier with the kite. Have fun!
