Hi,
Could someone please clarify what is the best/legal/class way of rigging the outhaul.
I have seen a diagram on the ISO site that shows the addition of a block within the boom being added and a reference to it in an old post on this forum but I'm not sure beyond this.
I am also unsure how to incorporate the slider in to the rigging if an internal block is not used.
I do at least have a hole in the end plate of the boom to tie the rope back to!

If you use an internal block (which is class-legal), you need to have a hole in the FRONT plate. The rope would be tied there, go back and pass through the block, then come to the front again and go through the cleat.
The block is tied to the rope coming from the back, which goes exactly as with the normal arrangement. This way when you pull the rope you have a 2:1 purchase (allowing for more precise adjustment and less strength needed!).
The hole in the back plate can be used to tie the rope that goes through the sail. You need to pass it through after going in the sail,take the end out just enough to tie a stop knot, and pull it back to have the knot in contact with the inner side of the plate. In this way it can't get loose and let go the sail (unlikely how it could be anyways).
Hope this was clear enough for you to understand, much easier to do than to describe.

Many thanks for confirming this is class legal. I have the ISO diagram (luckily I had printed it the day before they changed their web site!) so your explanation will be easily followed.
What do I do with the slider arrangement though? Is this now forgotten / not used?

Paolo,
The 'slider' is the part at the rear of the boom that the sail connects to, hope that helps.
Richard,
You will use the slider in the same way as originally rigged, ie, the mainsail will fit to it and the outhaul rope run through it and terminated at the rear of the boom as before.
If you need a photo of this then i can email one to you.
