I recently aquired a set of Hydes which are fantastic but the main sticks just after the last batten. We've missed two starts recently struggling to get the sail up, any thoughts?
Were also having some problems getting the spinnaker in the tube, the crew pulled so hard the last time he pulled the ring out of the middle of the sail and dragged half the sail cloth through the hole. We've taken off the pole from the system and swapped the 6mm for a 5mm halyard which helped, any other tips? thanks Howie |

Are you putting on lots of jib halyard before putting the main up? Let it off very slack to straighten the mast when you pull it up. Remember to put it on again afterwards though.
Do you have a spacer between the eye and the loop on the kite downhaul so it comes to the chute entrance in two parts or just the one. I believe there is a picture of this on the site.

Try hoisting with no righ tenion. Maybe your top batten is too tight? Ensure all battens are popped the same way when hoisting. Ensure the boat is head to wind. Spray the bolt rope with some prolube or something. (Don't spray whilst the sail is in the boat or else you will struggle to stand up).
If you have a Hyde kite then I don't think it requires a gap between the patches on the downhaul (last time I sailed my ISO was in Feb).
Pull the kite down quicker.
Come to the nationals and we'll have a look over it for you.
