One of the attractions to the Buzz was the sealed mast, reducing the risk of inversion, however it is clear the mast has become unsealed as on my first capsize it turtled quicker than log roll
Which are the points to check and what is the best way to seal them, or is this a salesman's myth????? |

The mast are not totally sealed, but there should not be any holes to let water in due to blocks, etc as the halyards run outside the mast. Water can only get in through rivets if not sealed and that is about it, so if you work your way along the mast and seal any visible holes through rivets with sikaflex or other marine sealant then you should be getting any water in the mast. There should be a hole in the foot of the mast to allow water out, just incase any gets in!! But the foot should always be above water level even when capsized . . . i think.
The only time i have known of a buzz turtle quickly is if the crew or helm hangs on the gunwale rather than just going into the water, also, ideally the helm (or crew if preferred) gets onto the board as it goes over which also makes sure that it doesn't completely invert.
I hope that helps.
