I have read ideas about drilling holes into the top of the daggerboard to drain water. I am cautious about drilling too much, but exactly how deep must the drill go as the top of the daggerboard seems to be solid for some depth?
I understand that the PY is 1005, but is the PY No the same for the new shape mainsail as the original Sobstad main?
Thanks in anticipation |

Hi Guy
If you have water on your dagger-board, then the best way to remove it is to drill two holes into the top edge of the foil approximately 100mm from the leading and trailing edges. The foil is hollow in areas away from the leading and trailing edges so you only have to drill through the GRP layer approximately 5mm.
The Buzz current PY number for 2012 is 1003 and is the same for both Sobstad and Hyde Sail shapes. The new Hyde sail were design to have the same performance as the old Sobstad sails.

Guy,
Exactly right what Mike says, to explain why you need 2 holes - the board is hollow, but has a tube down the middle to strengthen the board so if you have tried to drill a hole roughly central then you would have found the tube!

Guy,
Just realised you have Buzz 797, that used to belong to me!! Hope it's still going well.
There are some photo's of it on the Buzz Gallery page from the Goodacre Cup at Roadford SC in 2006 - http://www.bu22.co.uk/gallery/2006/goodacre2006/goodacre.html

John,
I thought 797 was now with you. I looked on Guy's profile which said 797, home club Hill Head. I think I bought it from Hill Head sailing club so probably from Guy!! He must have another one now.

Well, it has been around - we bought it from a chap in Kent. She seems to want to be back on the South coast, 'though, and that's where she's staying. |
